Milk Chocolate
It is no secret how chocolate makes people happy. In fact, when one looks back to their childhood they could remember an instance when they are happy because of chocolate. The prospect of driving out to the diner and sipping milk chocolate shake surely brings twinkle to anyone’s eyes.
Theobromine is the substance found in the cacao plant which can similarly be found in chocolate. It is derived from the Greek words theo meaning God and brosi meaning food, it literally translates to food for the gods. Chocolates and the cocoa plant have the richest concentration of theobromine. There have been claims that theobromine has cancer preventing effects. But chocolate lovers indulge in chocolate not knowing all these; all that chocoholics know is that chocolates can bring about happiness.
Milk chocolate is the antidote of choice for some people who like to occasionally indulge in chocolates to chase the blues away. Milk chocolate is the combination of chocolate liquor, cocoa butter and the addition of milk in the concoction. Milk powder or condensed milk is the preferred variety. To be able to qualify as milk chocolate, the US government requires a 10% concentration of chocolate liquor in the mix. It was in the 1870s when Milk chocolate was successfully solidified using condensed milk in the concoction instead of powdered milk.
It is said that chocoholics at heart fall in love with milk chocolate as a kid, because milk chocolate is what most commercial chocolates are made of. Its flavor lends a subtle rich chocolate flavor, unlike dark chocolate which has a more distinct bitterness to it. Nestle and Hershey’s are among the most popular makers of milk chocolate, with Hershey’s chocolate even inventing a process on producing a milk chocolate mix with a particularly tangy taste popular to the young and old alike.
